About the role: An ambitious and experienced Logistics Manager will be responsible for leading and managing domestic road transport, container shipping, and chartered ships. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient, timely, and cost-effective transportation solutions that align with the company's strategic goals. The Logistics Manager is dedicated to delivering excellence in customer service managing and optimising transport logistics for the UK, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods while promoting this companys values of safety, sustainability, and collaboration. The Logistics Manager reporting to the Head of Supply Chain Operation will be responsible for coordinating logistics operations. Full Time Responsibilities & Key work tasks: Oversee container shipping operations, including coordination with shipping lines and management of container logistics both Imports and Exports. Execute chartered ship planning activities, including vessel bookings, monitoring shipping schedules, and managing key relationships. Manage the development, performance and maintenance of the organisations transport providing efficient and smooth-running transport service, maximising performance, value, and profitability. Management of third-party logistics providers including contracts, provider duties and agreements. Internal stakeholder collaboration and support, aligning logistics operations with overall supply chain strategies. Management of logistics budgets, KPI reporting and managing documentation related to transportation agreements. Perform all duties in compliance with related legal/statutory, regulations, professional duties, responsibilities, and obligations, including insurances. Maintain and improve mechanisms for the operation of the transport, including surveying and measuring the satisfaction with the transport service and disseminate feedback to the appropriate internal entities. Utilise agreed systems to manage the transport operation, servicing, analysis and documentation. Assist with coordination of ship chartering activities, including vessel bookings, monitoring schedules ensuring timely movement of cargo. Liaise with shipping agents, brokers, and port authorities to ensure all chartering arrangements are in place. Monitor vessel performance ensuring voyages are executed in line with contractual agreements. Maintain and update records of full shipping operation. Assist with resolving operational issues that may arise. Characteristic and skills requirements Educated to degree level in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred. Proven experience in logistics management, including road transport, container shipping, and ideally ship chartering. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and ship chartering terms. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, shipping agents, and external partners. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage issues as they arise. Full UK driving licence.
