Place of Work/Group Company: Nijhuis Saur Industries Limited, Hybrid Truro/Home based Summary: Nijhuis Saur Industries are looking for a Process Scientist to provide technical front-line support for process investigations, surveys of industrial and municipal water/wastewater treatment operations across the UK. The role involves measuring process flow and load, monitoring process performance, process troubleshooting, providing site technical guidance to enhance and optimise process performance. The role will be based in a set region but will work across the UK and occasionally overseas. You will be comfortable undertaking basic laboratory analysis and jar testing as part of treatability studies to support i-CONSULT Project Design Team. You’ll be required to support water and wastewater related projects and business development opportunities throughout the UK to support Technical Development Team. Supporting site specific feasibility studies and develop process improvement plans to assist the O&M teams. Supported by the O&M Technical Development team and the wider business as well as the other company services, when necessary, you will be an experienced Water/Wastewater Treatment/Chemical/Process Engineer who will use their theoretical and practical knowledge to drive treatment process efficiencies, investigate process performance issues and support the Operations teams with Technical/Process matters. Duties and Responsibilities: Management of health, safety and environmental standards in an industrial environment on a complex multi customer project. In depth process knowledge for fault finding and determining impacts, risks and potential implications relating to process changes. Process performance monitoring and technical guidance to ensure NSI activity process performance and risk mitigation. Understanding of operational costs for various sites and how they are influenced by the operation of the process. Review project scopes to design an appropriate survey or investigation technical proposal. Awareness of differing potential H&S and environmental risk factors which might impact on safe survey or Client operations. Ability to perform Dynamic Risk Assessments in a new or evolving setting. Analyse risk for proposed projects and assist with the preparation of Risk Assessment Method Statements (RAMS). Lead and develop water related business opportunities in the UK with the help of NSI Business Development Team. Assist other business units (particularly the Laboratory and Technical Support) in developing specialist water treatment related services. Review and analyse survey generated data and customer provided data in the production of technical reports. Co-ordinate the operation of any pilot plants. Collect, organise, present and distribute data. Where appropriate, using process experience and additional research, contribute to the debate on alternative technologies and modifications that will maximise the performance of the plants. Leading by example and delivering the business objectives in an open, inclusive team driven style, embracing group values. Responsible for managing budgets associated with feasibility work and designated investigation projects. Lead water related site specific technical projects and development opportunities within the UK. Continually project a level of technical competence that gives the customer assurance. Encourage and drive innovative thinking and behaviours. Provide technical governance to our industrial water contracts to ensure process compliance and reliability. Communicate technical information to a wide audience with differing understanding/ knowledge of water to ensure it is understood. Required Skills/ Qualifications: Industrial water/wastewater treatment process experience preferably including work on municipal, power generation, petrochemical or food and beverage. Detailed knowledge of water treatment operations (Wastewater Treatment bias). Excellent ability to communicate and deliver written plans. Proactive focus towards health and safety and ability to lead on specific H&S matters. Experience working with customers including attending, facilitating and contributing to meetings. Water treatment theory and practice, directly related to reverse osmosis, ion exchange, aerobic, anaerobic, physical and chemical treatment technologies. Ability to demonstrate commercial thinking through delivery of optimisation and planning techniques. Good degree of awareness of contractual matters and matters affecting the operability and maintainability of the plant. Ability to work independently, including workload prioritisation and planning. Full clean driving licence.
