You will pull together and manage a diverse team from across our matrix organisation, working in partnership with a Technical Lead/System Engineer to identify and deliver a solution that meets customer requirements and industry standards. As the main point of contact for the customer and internal stakeholders, you will be responsible for maintaining relationships and effectively managing project-specific documentation and communication. The Role and Role-Specific Competencies Project Delivery: Manage custom delivery projects, ensuring they are carefully planned, resourced, and executed to meet customer specifications and internal processes. Lead the project team throughout the project lifecycle, delegating and prioritising tasks to ensure efficient and timely delivery. Evaluate progress and adapt plans as needed to achieve the best result. Proposal Support: Work in partnership with Global Business Managers and System Engineers to generate proposals by gathering and reviewing preliminary information from various internal and external stakeholders. Produce work breakdowns, schedules, and budgets to support the proposed scope of work. Project Management Plan: Create and implement a comprehensive Project Management Plan that identifies project scope, tasks, milestones, deliverables, budget, stakeholders, risks, and other key information necessary for successful project delivery. Scheduling: Construct and maintain a project schedule using an appropriate Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), clearly identifying milestones and review points. Track project progress against the baseline and ensure all tasks are completed. Budget Monitoring: Monitor costs against the agreed budget, calculate Cost to Complete (CTC), and promptly raise any deviations with management. Regularly report on spend and other KPIs in accordance with company processes. Requirements Verification: Collaborate with the Systems Engineer/Technical Lead to ensure comprehensive project requirements are produced, reviewed, and confirmed by stakeholders. Utilize expert resources across the company to verify requirements and document system performance and characteristics. Risk Management: Identify, document, assess, and mitigate project-related risks, raising significant issues to senior management as appropriate. Develop contingency plans to address issues promptly. Meetings & Gateway Reviews: Lead and participate in internal and external gateway reviews, coordinating the project team and engaging key stakeholders. Ensure all aspects are adequately considered and a clear outcome is reached efficiently. Communication: Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with customers while ensuring expectations and boundaries are maintained. Provide timely communication to stakeholders and ensure effective collaboration across the project team to achieve customer satisfaction. Compliance Assurance: Ensure that all work adheres to internal and external customer standards and procedures, including ISO9001. Development: Conduct project closeout reviews to gather lessons learned, contributing to improvements in processes and procedures. Share experiences with other Project Managers and actively participate in the development of the Project Management team, tools, and processes. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential: Proven project management expertise within an engineering environment. Experience managing low-volume bespoke engineering solutions. Strong ability to deliver results through others in a matrix organisation. Experience with design and testing for harsh/inaccessible environments. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to engage with diverse disciplines and authority levels. Experience managing complex, multi-item projects. Knowledge of good engineering practice and its application to project delivery. Excellent planning, organisational, and multitasking skills. Attention to detail and adaptability within your own work and that of your team. Desirable: Educated to degree level (BSc/BEng or equivalent) in Engineering or a similar discipline. APM PMQ, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification.
