MK College Group has an exciting opportunity for a creative multi skills Tutor to join the team based at HMP Rochester. This role involves actively engaging prison-based learners through the delivery of creative classes and resources. You will teach a programme that introduces learners to a range of trade and construction skills, helping them identify their next steps within education and beyond.
You will teach the fundamentals of bricklaying, carpentry, and painting and decorating to inspire learners and grow their confidence in using basic tools and techniques. Many learners have diverse needs and learning abilities and often have had negative experiences with education. As a successful multi skills Teacher, you will provide a positive learning experience that can make a difference in their present situation and future.
This role involves working with learners from all backgrounds within a workshop environment, supporting them with their learning and enabling them to achieve success through qualifications and the development of confidence and softer skills applicable to employment and further education.
We seek an individual who can communicate well with learners to inspire and motivate them. The average class consists of 8 learners, and sessions are approximately 3 hours long. Your lessons will need to be adaptable, innovative, and imaginative.

ABOUT HMP ROCHESTER
HMP Rochester is a Category C prison, holding approximately 950 adult male sentenced offenders. The prison focuses on reducing reoffending by preparing offenders for their release through accredited intervention programmes, skill and vocational-based training, and education.
Courses at HMP Rochester include Maths, English, IT, catering, art, mentoring and training, construction skills, and much more. Staff are essential in supporting prisoners to gain qualifications and develop skills for a productive, crime-free life outside the establishment.
Education delivery hours are Monday to Thursday 8.45am – 11.30am, 1.45pm – 4.30pm, and on Fridays 8.45am – 11.30am, with staff working on-site 8:15am – 4:45pm each day and 8:15am – 1:15pm on Fridays. Class sizes typically range from 8-12 learners.
Located a short distance from the M2 and the M20, HMP Rochester offers outstanding views over the North Downs and is surrounded by the beautiful Kent countryside.
