As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
As an apprentice you will study a range of programmes working towards a Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship standard, covering a variety of skills and qualifications while earning a wage and completing invaluable practical skills in industry. You will be working alongside a mentor and assisting the team.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities are:
Based at Immingham, the ICT team supports all 6 VPI sites across England.
* Triaging support cases & network events and either resolving to the customers satisfaction, using documented processes and procedures, or escalating as necessary.
* Proactive communication to customers as their service tickets progress
* Perform 1st Line duties as required
* Communicate with external vendors and Internal IT teams to resolve issues
* Support colleagues regarding IT requests/incidents (hardware/software) & new users.
Intermittently during your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to visit the businesses other sites (with experienced colleagues) to meet internal customers and increase your knowledge of the VPI business.
Please note - A full Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required to comply with security clearance for the role, upon selection; you will need to provide addresses for the last 5 years (including the dates you lived at each address) – all costs will be covered by VPI.

* Use a range of Cabling or Connectors equipment in line with technical requirements for example physically or remotely
* Test and evaluate network environments
* Monitor performance and usage of a network
* Deploy applications on a network

* Carry out routine maintenance across network systems, ensuring organisational compliance
