Senior Policy and Projects Officer, UK Climate Adaptation Hub
Contract details: Fixed Term Contract 2 years 3 months (27 months)

Working within the GLA’s climate adaptation team as part of the London Climate Ready Partnership you’ll lead the coordination of activities of the recently launched UK Climate Adaptation Hub. This exciting new project is a partnership between leading academic institutions, climate adaptation networks and technical experts. The project has been funded by DEFRA and the UK Research Institute and is focussed on delivering transformative solutions to help the UK become more resilient to climate impacts. The Hub covers the whole of the UK across all 4 devolved nations, this role is to run the England region activities and you’ll be working in partnership with Sustainability West Midlands to do this. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a network of organisations who will work with national, regional and local policy makers to develop solutions that will safeguard communities, nature and our economy.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate the England spoke of the Hub ensuring delivery against a programme of work set out in a delivery plan.
* Work with organisations across London and England to support them through training, networking events, research projects and designing effective knowledge sharing activities.
* Collaborate with UK partners to address critical gaps in climate adaptation planning and enhance resilience across London and England.
* Manage day-to-day activities and workplan of the England spoke, liaising closely with the Hub centre manager and Sustainability West Midlands.
* Establish effective administrative systems for managing finance, resources, reporting requirements, and data in accordance with Greater London Authority’s policies.
* Liaise with the academic co-lead to ensure integration of local research objectives into the work.
* Support other devolved nation partners in developing and delivering local activities.
* Align Hub activities with GLA platforms and existing partnerships.
* Organise and facilitate workshops to advance Hub objectives, focusing on key themes such as identifying barriers to adaptation and launching a flexible research fund.
* Share learnings and outcomes from local Hub activities across the partner network.
* Contribute to joint Hub publications and manage stakeholder relationships at regional and national levels.
* Promote equality of opportunities and support diverse community needs.
* Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams and adapt flexibly to work requirements.
Person Specification
Technical Requirements/Experience/Qualifications
* Experience of working in partnership with academic institutions, public sector agencies, and community groups.
* Understanding of climate adaptation issues in the UK as defined in relevant strategies and assessments.
* Project management skills with a focus on achieving targets and deadlines.
* Strong research, analytical, and written skills for data interpretation and presentation.
