Rotating Shift pattern
As the Tool Maker, you will have a diverse range of responsibilities. You will apply your problem-solving skills and continuous improvement techniques to maximize tooling performance, enhance quality, and reduce waste. You will also be tasked with designing, fabricating, and commissioning new jigs and fixtures to support production processes. In this fast-paced environment, you will need to prioritize workload effectively, responding promptly to breakdowns and completing preventive maintenance schedules to ensure seamless operations.
Your role will also include performing reactive repairs on press tooling, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts. You will play a key role in supporting new product introductions, ensuring that equipment and processes meet operational requirements. Analysing tooling issues, identifying faults, and developing effective preventive and total productive maintenance strategies will be integral to your responsibilities. Additionally, you will be responsible for recording all activities in our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and sourcing and procuring spare components as required. Collaborating closely with production teams, you will help ensure that daily targets are met, and you will also assist maintenance engineers with breakdowns, repairs, and installations on factory equipment when needed.
The ideal candidate will have completed an apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter, Machinist, or Toolmaker, or hold an NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, BTEC Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification. Knowledge of safe working practices within a machine shop environment and hands-on experience with CNC lathe, CNC mill, and surface grinding are essential. While not mandatory, experience with CAD, 3D modelling, and Inventor is highly desirable, as is a background in tooling design.
