Description ABS Consulting’s Extreme Loads and Structural Risk Division is seeking an experienced Engineer to join our team. ABS Consulting is a worldwide multi-discipline industry leader in risk assessment, hazard mitigation, and management planning for natural, process, or threat related hazards. What You Will Do: Consequence Analysis Quantitative Risk Assessment Fire & Explosion Risk Assessments Explosion, Fire and Toxic Modeling Explosion Testing and Similitude Modeling Advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Nonlinear static, Nonlinear transient dynamic Advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analyses Root Cause Analysis & Incident Investigations What You Will Need: Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering. 5 years (minimum) of professional experience. Experience in fluid dynamics and energy emphasis. 5 years of experience performing CFD modeling of dispersion/explosion using GEXCON FLACS. 5 years of experience performing consequence modeling using DNV PHAST and SAFETII. Preferred - Master’s degree Mechanical/Chemical Engineering. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proven track record of conducting fire/toxic/explosion hazards analysis. Working knowledge of facility siting and/or Fire & Explosion Risk Analysis (FERA) Demonstrated experience communicating complex technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to speak well in group and/or client facing environments. Preferred - Experience with CFD modeling using ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM, COMSOL, or equivalent. Preferred - Programming/scripting experience (.NET, Python, VBA). Preferred - Project management experience. Preferred - Experience as a consulting engineer. Reporting Relationships: This person would report to the Director Engineering. Working Conditions: Work will normally be performed in an office environment. Duties may include site visits which could include limited overseas travel.
