Interview details:
Shortlisted candidates will attend a full-morning assessment center on Friday, March 7th. This first stage will include lunch and the opportunity to meet the team. Successful candidates from the morning session will be invited to stay for a formal interview in the afternoon.
The role:
Manchester Adult Education has an exciting opportunity within their Wider Management Team for a Curriculum Manager to lead their English and maths Curriculum.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the curriculum is well designed and executed, delivers on key performance indicators and is a good fit for our learners and the city. You will be responsible for managing relationships with key stakeholders, including local employers and community organisations.
Key responsibilities
Curriculum Planning
Ensure that the curriculum plan is robust, deliverable and will generate sufficient funding in 25/26 and beyond, whilst making efficient use of resources and staff time.
Lead the team to ensure that all courses that are being offered are effectively planned and have a clear intent that can be articulated by relevant staff.
Contribute to the medium to long-term strategy for the English and maths curriculum which includes aspirations to extend the delivery and grow the Curriculum area.
Learner Recruitment
Contribute to developing and delivering the approach to enrolment in 25/26 ensuring that it is well communicated to the team and prospective learners and that it leads to a positive start to the academic year.
Monitor recruitment data, identify areas that need additional focus to achieve recruitment targets and plan effective interventions.
Quality of Education
Ensure the team are ‘Ofsted ready’ and can articulate and evidence strengths, curriculum intent and impact, providing support where it is needed.
Monitor quality and intervene quickly to manage issues in line with service policies and procedures.
Contribute to delivering the service quality cycle, undertaking self-assessment and identifying appropriate service improvement actions.
Manage the internal quality assurance process, working closely with the team leaders and awarding organisations.

The role-holder will have a PGCE/Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and recent experience of teaching adults.
The role-holder will have the necessary subject specialism for the curriculum area.
The ideal candidate will hold a Leadership and Management qualification/equivalent or willingness to achieve within 2 years.
The ideal candidate will hold qualifications in assessment and verification or willingness to achieve and will be able to demonstrate a track record of exceeding the expectations of awarding organisations in managing these processes.
Knowledge and experience of the use and development of e-learning/learning technologies, including familiarity with Virtual Learning Environment systems.
Knowledge and experience of delivering service improvements through the self-assessment process.
