Solutions Designer
Salary & Benefits: Salary £52,124 - £65,155 per annum dependant on experience, annual bonus, attractive pension scheme (Up to 10% company contribution), life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary and 25 days annual leave, bank holidays, plus a wellness day and development opportunities in line with the Solutions Designer progression plan. Our Solution Designer is responsible for assisting the Solution Architects in the design of our API services that meet both functional and non-functional requirements, and 3rd line support and development activities. Our stack is Microservice based APIs built with .NET (C#) deployed on Azure Cloud.
The Solution Architects team work closely together to ensure the consistent adoption and use of technologies across all solutions, and the adherence to architectural principles, policies and processes and our Solution Designer is expected to actively contribute to this.
Taking a lead technical and governance role on deployed microservice API's. You will be responsible for the delivery of best value service aligned to current business demands. The role will also require some face to face time with business stakeholders to help understand software solutions and carry out bug root cause analysis.
The Solution Designer will work closely with the Solution Architecture team and contribute to the agile delivery teams by leveraging their understanding of the API landscape and how they fit in in with the end to end process.
Where you fit in:
As our Solutions Designer you will
* Contribute to the development and maintenance of our microservice based APIs and guide developers consuming APIs to follow software development standards and governing adherence to them.
* Learn how to exploit existing platform/application investments, such as cloud services, integration platforms, UI libraries, to maximise return on investment and deliver rationalised and consistent end-to-end solutions.
* Drive change through the agile teams and deliver input into triages set up to address issues raised related to design defects and to derive resolutions providing timely responses that meet our SLA levels.
* Provide assistance, assurance and governance for the quality of deliverables produced by the build functions (Application Development and Infrastructure Engineering) for all IT solutions within their business service area.
* Influence strategic technology decisions through feedback and collaborative working with all relevant Architects (Process, Data, Technology, Application, Security, Platform, Infrastructure, Networks and Solutions).
What skills & qualifications you will need:
* Experience of leading the design, development and delivery of robust and reliable API services within a cloud environment, with a proven track record of driving high development standards against challenging business targets.
* Experience in the following technical services & disciplines:
* Microsoft .NET 6 (C#, ASP.NET, MVC, WCF, etc.)
* MS SQL experience including writing SQL scripts
* API development
* Microsoft SQL server (TSQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, etc.)
* Azure Cloud
* Azure API Management
* Strong writing skills/experience of documenting key technical decisions and processes that can be shared with the wider technology function.
* Experience of undertaking technical leadership for a team of technical roles, providing direction and influence to ensure completion of activities.
* Established/proven technical experience gained in a complex and varied environment with knowledge of: Software and Hosted Architectures.
* Understanding of architectural roles, domains, methodologies and design strategies.
