As part of the Business Administration Apprenticeship, you’ll build the foundations of your career by developing your knowledge, skills and behaviours through high-performing, meaningful work whilst working towards an industry-recognised qualification. You’ll contribute to the development and improvement of Nationwide’s processes, products and services in your department.
Following the 18-month Apprenticeship journey, you will have built well-rounded operational processing expertise in The Mortgage Works underpinned by a strong understanding of the business function and the application of technical capabilities. As a Case Owner, you will have the capability to expertly manage the mortgage application process from application through to offer.
We’ll need you to build rewarding relationships across the organisation and externally to understand customer needs, resolve problems and support the delivery of the Society blueprint.
You’ll attend webinars, technical training, and be supported by an apprenticeship skills coach alongside your line manager and team to achieve your best.
Our Mortgages and Financial Wellbeing function has approximately 3,000 colleagues working towards our mission to provide a world-class mortgage service.
When joining the Business Administration Apprenticeship, you’ll specifically operate within our Landlord teams which consist of Buy-to-Let Mortgage Processors, Underwriters, Mortgage Advisers, and Telephony agents, gaining experience with both the pre-completion and post-completion customer journeys.

What you’ll be doing
On the Business Administration Apprenticeship, you’ll develop towards the role of a Case Owner over an 18-month period gaining the knowledge, skills, and network our Mortgages & Financial Wellbeing function requires.
The Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship will focus on building the foundations to your career, combining practical knowledge and skills into one package. You’ll become an outstanding written and verbal communicator, able to take the initiative and be confident in managing business priorities. Throughout the programme, you’ll also develop innovative strategies to support business operations and coordinate between departments, from planning and organising to record-keeping and quality control.
The apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with BPP.
As a case owner, you will learn all aspects of processing a mortgage application. You will be able to independently analyse customer documents to ensure affordability of the mortgage, liaising with customers, brokers, and solicitors with ease. You will be able to support the mortgage journey from application stage through to redemption of the mortgage.

Entry requirements:
In order to be eligible to apply for this role you must meet the following criteria:
* Have right to work in the UK – if non-British, your current visa or immigration status must cover the duration of the apprenticeship which would span at least 20 months.
* Have been living in the UK or EEA countries for the last 3 years.
* Not be enrolled in another apprenticeship or other government-funded programme.
* *If you are under the age of 19, you will need to have two GCSEs at A-C/grade 9-4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language.
* Working in England 50%+ of the time is a requirement of the role.
As per recent government announcement all apprentices, who were aged 19 and over at the start of their apprenticeship training (October 2025), will no longer be required to hold or achieve English and maths qualifications to pass their apprenticeship.
*Apprentices who are aged 16 to 18 at the start of their training (October 2025), will still be required to achieve English and Maths qualifications to support their career progression.
