Role Overview:
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work on a 1:1 basis with a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to support their learning and development. Your role will be crucial in helping the child to access the curriculum, providing tailored support in the classroom and ensuring they feel confident and motivated to reach their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 support for a child with SEN, helping them with their academic and social development.
Support the class teacher in delivering lessons, ensuring the child is engaged and supported at all times.
Adapt learning materials and strategies to suit the child’s individual needs.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued.
Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff members to monitor progress and share observations.
Promote the child’s social and emotional wellbeing, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
About You:
Experience of working with children, ideally in an educational setting.
A genuine interest in supporting children with SEN.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong relationships with children.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to adapt to different needs.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
