Summary
Harley-Davidson has shifted from chasing unit volumes to a universal focus on local-level profitability as a strategic approach. Holistic business performance is at the centre of the Regional operating model. Leaders must be highly skilled in overall market development – driving brand strength, enhanced mix profiles, inventory management, and working capital efficiencies, as well as overhead cost control. The National Sales Manager will motivate, challenge, and develop a high-caliber team to drive local decision-making and accountability. National Sales Managers of the international business will also be uniquely required to manage the local Dealer relationships within their markets including the administration of local-level Dealer Advisory Councils. This role will be the point person to deliver sales, revenue, and margin for the market/region.
Objectives
* Accountable for achieving local level objectives including sales volumes, revenue, market development, dealer development, service levels, dealer and customer satisfaction.
* Manages the local Dealer network and the network strategy to achieve dealer development objectives and the dealer growth targets.
* Provides management of the sales teams and leads employee development and engagement activities.
* Acts as the statutory representative officer in Market/Country where appropriate.
* Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and standardisation including achieving year on year improvements in people and selling, general and administration.
Education Required
* Bachelor's or equivalent degree required
* Typically requires a minimum of 12 years related experience. Minimum of 5 years of management experience leading sales teams
* Demonstrated automotive or powersports leader – dealing with country level teams and field sales representatives
* Demonstrated prowess in navigating relationships with national Dealer networks including Dealer Advisory Councils
* Strong knowledge of retail and multi-channel approach to reach new consumers in an evolving retail marketplace
* Ability to translate sub-regional direction into actionable plans and results to deliver aligned key performance indicators
* Proven ability to lead; to motivate and inspire field sales teams to do more than they ever thought possible on their own
* Frequent travel required.
Preferred
* Thorough understanding of automotive and motorcycle distribution in local markets.
* Fluency in other languages would be an advantage.
