Job Description
Band 3: £24,071 - £25,674
Hours: 37.5 per week

An exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and passionate team has become available at our Regional Drug Procurement Centre.
As a Pharmacy Support Worker, you will assist in providing support to deliver the supply of pharmaceuticals to Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust (PHU) and carry out the receipt and distribution of wholesaling activities from the Regional Drug Purchasing Centre (RDPC) to external customers. You will help to maintain the standards required by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in order to keep the department’s wholesaler dealer licence and reputation with customers. You will ensure that the RDPC maintains the standards required by the Home Office in order to keep the department’s Controlled Drug licence.
The Pharmacy procurement and wholesale distribution team processes orders, receipts, checks, picks, packs, and delivers over 5 million medicines each year. The team operates as a trading short-line NHS wholesaler, picks orders for ward boxes supplied to the hospital, and acts as first line responders to stock shortages by investigating alternative supply routes so that patient care and treatment are not compromised. The unit holds an MHRA wholesaler dealers’ licence and is subject to Good Distribution Practice (GDP) regulations and MHRA inspections.
Qualifications
Essential:
1. Good education standard e.g. GCSEs in English and Mathematics or equivalent
2. Willingness to undertake in-house and Trust training essential for the post
Desirable:
1. Previous experience in a similar role
2. Experience of stock control/handling
3. Fork-lift driving licence – training provided
4. Full clean UK driving licence
