From Monday 24th February 2025, we require a dedicated and motivated Catering Manager.
The successful candidate will be required to:
1. Plan, prepare, cook and serve healthy school refreshments of the highest quality to the children, staff and community, including school lunches which meet the Government’s National Nutritional Standards.
2. Promote, organise and control the service and supervision and craft training of the catering staff.
3. Function as line manager for all catering and midday supervisory staff, and non-class based support staff.
4. Have responsibility for Performance management for the catering team and midday supervisory staff.
In addition, you will:
1. Enhance the catering provision at Nailsworth C of E Primary School.
2. Work without direct supervision.
3. Prepare and cook school refreshments as detailed on the daily menu in accordance with agreed recipes.
4. Actively promote the school meals service to pupils and parents to increase uptake of healthy school meals.
5. Prepare healthy snacks for the after-school club.
6. Supervise the work of the catering employees and issue clear instructions.
7. Keep the work area clean and tidy and undertake general cleaning duties.
8. Serve meals in a polite and courteous manner.
9. Undertake training as required.
10. Deliver induction programme to new members of catering and midday supervisory staff.
11. Carry training for new employees and be responsible for the continuous training and development of catering staff, including skills and methods training.
12. Plan and design menus for day to day catering and for staff lunches, functions and events.
13. Produce reports on catering and attend meetings if required.
14. Source and communicate with suppliers to ensure value for money.
15. Order supplies and ensure that stock control systems and production planning systems are instigated and effective.
16. Promote school meals and catering facilities for the whole school and community events.
17. Meet monthly with senior leaders to review the catering provision.
18. Review the income, expenditure and the cost of meals with the School Business Manager.
19. Follow School Policy at all times, particularly with regard to Food Hygiene, Health & Safety at Work and Customer Care.
20. Liaise with the Environmental Health Officer and maintain hygiene and health and safety standards to meet legislative requirements.
21. Wear full uniform for work and ensure that it is clean and presentable at all times.
22. Work effectively during contracted hours and be willing to work overtime as the job demands.
23. Carry out any other reasonable duties.
