Croydon Council is recruiting 6 Fixed Term posts in its Council Tax Collection Team. This is an exciting opportunity to improve the service that we deliver to Croydon Residents during the busy Annual Billing Period where the new Council Tax bills are issued to over 166,000 residents.
We pride ourselves on doing the best for our community and, as a Revenues Officer, you will play a key part in this. We are fiercely ambitious and want to be the best collection service in London with our annual income target exceeding £332m.
You will be dealing with inbound calls from Croydon Residents regarding their council tax. The successful candidate will be required to have Council Tax knowledge and experience in order to deliver a professional, customer-focused, high-quality service. You must possess excellent communication skills, be decisive and confident in your decision making, and understand the processes and legislation relating to council tax.
Responsibilities
1. Administering the Billing, Collection, and Recovery of Council Tax
2. Promoting and directing our residents to our online services
3. Taking payments and negotiating payment plans
4. Opening, closing, and amending accounts
5. Applying discounts, reliefs, and exemptions
6. Liaising with external companies such as Enforcement Agents
7. Dealing with enquiries by telephone and written correspondence on all queries related to Council Tax
Northgate ICT system knowledge is essential.
