The opportunity: Strong, friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic Horticultural Sales Advisor wanted to work in the outdoor plant area at our Nunhead Store. Good working knowledge of outdoor plants and how to care for them is a prerequisite for this role. Must be well presented, able to quickly build a good rapport with customers, and have a great passion for gardening. A relevant horticulture qualification and previous experience in a retail garden centre would be an advantage. Outdoor working is required in all weather conditions. You will need to be physically fit and able to handle heavy stock. Training and support will be given to develop or acquire the knowledge to assist our extensive and varied customer base as well as develop new clients. Working hours will include weekends and Bank Holidays as required. We will consider full time or part-time applicants. You will be based at our Nunhead Store and may be called upon to work in our other South London locations. Responsibilities: You will support the Senior Store Management in the daily operations of the store which includes but is not limited to; Advising customers on planting schemes and with general gardening queries Assist customers with their queries regarding garden pests and diseases and propose appropriate remedies Creating and maintaining attractive plant displays Receiving and processing weekly deliveries of pots, compost and plants Offering exceptional customer service Plant and plant area maintenance Ensuring the retail space is presentable and safe for customers Stock management including watering and care of plants Any other ad hoc duties as requested by the management You will work quickly, decisively and always with clear goals in mind. You will be organised, self-motivated and responsible, taking ownership of your projects. You will enjoy collaborating with others.
