What to Expect in the Role: The Environmental and Operational Services Team at Stratford-on-Avon District Council is looking for an individual with a passion for maintaining our great environment and having local pride to make a positive difference to our communities. As one of the most visible and high profile services the Council provides, we’d love you to join us as we deliver major changes to help our residents to further reduce their waste, drive up recycling, improve cleanliness standards and reduce our carbon footprint. Working in the community across Stratford-on-Avon District to make a real difference to our neighbourhoods, you will use your excellent people and communication skills to build relationships and develop partnerships with various local stakeholders and contractors to deliver services for us. You will use your positive, can-do attitude to make things happen and ensure that the communities across the District are benefitting from high quality services that we are responsible for. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details): Raise public awareness of waste minimisation through education and engagement, and encourage behaviour change to increase reuse and recycling. Liaise with key stakeholders to provide effective communications and to implement measures that reduce the contamination of recyclable, digestible and compostable materials. Review existing on-street recycling provision in Stratford Town Centre and the rest of the District and to introduce park recycling in the Council’s public open spaces. Contribute to the Council’s response to declaring a Climate Emergency and an Ecological Emergency by increasing the resilience to the impact of a changing climate and enhancing biodiversity in the Council’s parks, public open spaces and local nature reserves. Develop and implement a Resources and Waste Strategy for Stratford-on-Avon District. Support the Environmental and Operational Services Team to ensure that the Council’s waste collection contractor delivers excellent, customer-focused, value for money services, which best meet the needs of the public and enhance public satisfaction. What You’ll Need (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details): Excellent Customer and Stakeholder Relationship management skills, at all levels. Experience of Project Management, research and trend analysis. Effective communicator, negotiator and influencer across a broad range of audiences, verbally, in writing and visual presentations. Knowledge of relevant waste legislation, particularly the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Environment Act 2021. Experience of preparing and presenting formal reports and presentations.
