The role
This role involves leading research under the supervision of Dr. Meng Wang within the Bristol Programming Languages research group. The group has a strong international reputation and a wide range of interests, including functional programming, program verification and analysis, program synthesis, and type theory. It is well-connected with leading research groups worldwide, with research supported by major funding agencies and industry leaders. The post holder will have the freedom to pursue research in any of the aforementioned areas and will be part of a dynamic team of seven academics, along with multiple PDRAs and PhD students. You will receive excellent academic and financial support to advance your research career. In return, you are expected to conduct high-quality research and contribute actively to the group's vibrant research culture. The position is initially for 18 months, with the possibility of extension.
What will you be doing?
Research Responsibilities
1. Conducting high quality research in programming languages and related fields.
2. Leading small research groups.
3. Initiating publications arising from research results.
4. Presenting research results at conferences.
5. Identifying new research activities.
6. Collaborating with academic/industrial partners.
Administration Responsibilities
1. Facilitating the running of the research group.
2. Representing and advocating the research area.
3. Mentoring junior researchers.
You should apply if
1. An excellent publication track record in top-ranking venues.
2. An excellent understanding of programming languages or related fields.
3. Knowledge of a broad range of programming language techniques.
4. The ability to organise your own work with minimal supervision and prioritise work to meet deadlines.
