A highly reputable and established Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) is seeking an exceptional Assistant Principal (SENDCo) to join its dedicated leadership team in Grimsby, Lincolnshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate individual to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the SEND provision across the academy, ensuring that all pupils with SEND receive the support and guidance necessary to achieve their full potential. They will play a critical role in driving the academy’s commitment to inclusivity and ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and develop the academy’s SEND strategy and policy.
* Ensure effective identification, assessment, and provision for pupils with SEND.
* Lead and manage the SEND team, providing training, guidance, and support.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure the curriculum is accessible and meets the diverse needs of all learners.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEND provision, using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement.
* Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
* Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and other relevant legislation.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong teaching background.
* National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete within 3 years).
* Proven experience in a leadership role, with a track record of driving improvement in SEND provision.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
* Experience of working effectively with external agencies to support pupil outcomes.
Desirable:
* Experience of working within a Multi-Academy Trust or similar environment.
* Ability to use data effectively to inform decisions and monitor progress.
* Evidence of CPD in SEND leadership and safeguarding.
