An exciting Senior opportunity now exists to join the Group Finance Team at Preqin. Applicants will need to be technically astute with relevant post qualified experience. This is a small team in which the successful applicant will gain significant experience with potential future progression opportunities.
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this role will have a broad oversight of accounting functions, with significant emphasis on group tax matters.
What you'll be doing:
1. Act as a key member of the Finance team, lead, motivate and inspire the junior team to reach the next level of performance.
2. Monitoring and ensuring all tasks to be completed in a timely manner and people are accountable for the work performed to high standards.
3. Provide operational support to the finance team and wider business.
4. Support the Group Accountant with statutory reporting and group audit.
5. Responsible for preparation, review, and compliance for multiple taxes across the group.
6. Collaborate with the FP&A team on non-business as usual project work.
Strategic outlook and ad-hoc projects
1. This role requires expertise in tax laws, regulations, and strategic tax planning at a group level. It also includes managing external tax advisors or auditors and handling tax filings and audits.
2. Develop and improve group reporting using ERP system and ensure that the impact of new systems, processes or initiatives are appropriately considered and incorporated into existing reporting and controls environment.
3. Input a range of projects and continuous improvement activities, ensuring that all projects that impact the Finance team are successfully delivered and embedded in the organisation.
4. Support the Group Accountant with the preparation of the group consolidation in the NetSuite.
Tax and global compliance
1. Be confident with UK requirements and reporting.
2. Manage global compliance tracker and oversee international tax compliance with the support of advisors.
3. Knowledge of US sales tax compliance desirable.
4. Work with external advisors to prepare annual R&D tax return.
Financial control
1. Accountable for the financial integrity of the general and sub-ledgers, ensuring that all balance sheet controls are in place, reconciliations are performed to agreed deadlines, signed off and any opportunities or risks are highlighted.
2. Take ownership for maintaining strong financial controls within business processes, including when business changes are implemented.
What you'll bring to us:
1. ACA Qualified with a minimum of 7 years industry experience.
2. Previous experience in a fast growing, International business.
3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex financial data in a clear and relevant way.
4. Experience in optimising finance processes to improve efficiency and controls.
5. Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to influence and challenge others.
6. Resilient, and able to cope with high levels of change.
7. Experience working with an enterprise accounting software, NetSuite is preferred.
