Your work as a volunteer helps The Salvation Army’s vital work with vulnerable people. If you want to play a part in helping others whilst volunteering for a fantastic charity, we have a variety of roles you can choose from. You can even try multiple roles to learn different tasks and find out what you enjoy!
We need volunteers Monday - Saturday at our Donation Centre at Springfields Retail Park, Newcastle Road, ST4 6PD.
The volunteer roles (minimum age 14)
1. Media Volunteer – Music and Entertainment: Do you enjoy music, film, and games? We are looking for knowledgeable people to support our team and help sort, price, research, and display our donations of games, DVDs, and music.
2. Volunteer Sort Room Assistant: Are you an organised person who likes things to be neat and tidy? This role involves sorting and displaying vintage clothing, jewellery, and more.
3. Volunteer Sales Assistant: Do you like chatting to people? Assist customers with donations and purchases while promoting our Gift Aid scheme.
4. Book Volunteer: Help keep the books organised and looking professional on the sales floor by sorting, pricing, and displaying them.
5. Volunteer Jewellery & Accessories Specialist: Use your expertise to select, price, and display our lovely selection of accessories.
6. Bric-a-Brac Volunteer: Help us select, price, and create displays of our wonderful and unusual donated items.
7. Volunteer Key Holder: Gain experience in the retail sector while supporting the great work of The Salvation Army.
8. Drivers Mate: Accompany our drivers with collections and deliveries, assisting with manual handling and transporting goods.
9. Social Media Volunteer: Support our social media efforts and help reinvent charity for future generations.
