Due to expansion, we are seeking to appoint a Laboratory Assistant to join our dedicated Pathology team in Laboratory Services at our site in Manchester. As a new and growing department, our haematology and biochemistry laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery. The successful candidate will be involved in supporting groundbreaking drug development FOCUS OF THE JOB: To provide support to the Clinical Pathology Laboratories (Haematology and Biochemistry). Responsible for sample receiving, preparation and storage. Maintaining minimum stocking levels of standard laboratory consumables. Maintaining of Clinical Trials Samples and relevant records relating to clinical studies and other studies carried out within Laboratory Services. Routine maintenance of instrumentation Knowledge and operation of Quality Management Systems within a regulated Laboratory environment. Working to, writing, updating and reviewing policies and SOPs. KEY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: BSc Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Science or relevant experience Experience in operating and maintaining a QMS Experience with LIMS and/or ELN Familiarity with the processes and requirements for the handling, preparation and storage of clinical and non-clinical samples (including but not limited to, Plasma, serum, CSF, urine) Knowledge of testing procedures and applicable laboratory regulations for clinical samples.
