We have a fantastic opportunity for a Scheduler/Planner (Highways) to join our Area 10 contract in Bolton (Onsite). The position consists of a 9-month fixed term contract.
The Scheduler/Planner - Highways plays an important part in planning, maintaining, and delivering the highway cyclic and reactive maintenance programme in Area 10.
Amey is working on behalf of National Highways in Area 10 which is made up of 300 miles of strategic road network including some of the region’s busiest motorways: the M6, M56 and M62. We provide routine cyclic and winter maintenance, and incident response across the Northwest, including traffic management during incidents. Ensuring our roads are well-maintained and well-managed through all-weather seasons, we aim to help reduce traffic incidents and severity of road accidents, as well as ensure road users in the Northwest feel safer.
The standard hours of work are 37.5 hrs per week.
You will be part of a team responsible for:
* Developing and managing the cyclical maintenance programme for Area 10 annually, including working with operational and commercial teams to develop a programme that is safe, efficient, and effective, with profiled resourcing requirements for the lifetime of the contract.
* Tracking progress, incorporating changes, and forecasting delivery dates and expenditure.
* Coordinating within the team to develop and manage the reactive maintenance programme for Area 10, with a minimum rolling three months programme.
* Engaging with the Client and other key stakeholders through regular communications including weekly/monthly planning meetings and other forums.
* Preparing periodic reports, statistics, and answers to enquiries concerning the programme.
* Ensuring high standards of programming and road space booking are carried out to meet client and contract requirements.
* Developing and improving working practices and seeking innovative solutions.
We want to hear from you if you have/are:
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and a meticulous approach.
* Comfortable and proficient with using computers, particularly the Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel), and preferably, but not essential, Primavera P6, plus other tools/systems as defined by the project or client.
* Preferably, but not essential, experience in highways maintenance operations.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have experience in planning/project management to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
