About The Role
As an Educational Healthcare Assistant, you will provide personalised support and care to students with healthcare needs, physical disabilities, or medical conditions that affect their learning. Your role will be to ensure students are fully supported in both their medical and educational needs, helping them to participate in lessons and school activities confidently and safely.
Responsibilities Of The Educational Healthcare Assistant
* Providing medical support and care for students with physical or medical needs during the school day.
* Assisting students with personal care, including feeding, toileting and mobility, ensuring they are comfortable and able to engage fully in school life.
* Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) such as autism, cerebral palsy, or epilepsy in the classroom.
* Monitoring students’ health and well-being throughout the day, including administering medication as required.
* Assisting in the implementation of individual healthcare plans (IHPs) and collaborating with teachers, SENCOs and other healthcare professionals.
* Providing first aid support and responding to any medical emergencies calmly and professionally.
* Promoting students’ independence, confidence and participation in school activities, both academic and extracurricular.
* Maintaining accurate records of students' medical needs, progress and any incidents, providing updates to parents and school staff.
The Successful Candidate Will
* Experience in healthcare, SEN support, or personal care is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of medical conditions, first aid procedures and healthcare plans.
* A compassionate, empathetic and patient approach to supporting children with diverse healthcare and educational needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
* Ability to manage confidential medical information and provide care safely and professionally.
* First aid certification or willingness to obtain certification (if applicable).
* Experience in working with students with autism, learning difficulties, or physical disabilities is an advantage.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
