Desk Based Account Manager - Metals Supply Industry
We are looking to hire a desk-based account manager on behalf of one of our clients who operate in the metals supply industry.
Our client is recognised as a market leader by its clients and is embarking on an exciting phase of business development through both acquisition and organic growth. They have been winning significant new business in the water & nuclear industries and operate from very modern premises.
Our client looks to promote and develop from within their business so if you are ambitious, driven to earn bonuses and get a buzz from closing business then we’d like to talk to you.
You will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining customer relationships and be responsible for managing a portfolio of accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving business growth.
This role will suit somebody who is comfortable responding to customers and prospects that have made an initial inbound enquiry but still need proactive product support and proactive selling/questioning techniques using the telephone rather than relying on email to close a sale.
The ideal candidate will be able to appropriately identify the needs of both new and current customers in order to aid customers in their success using our product.
This will be done by developing an appropriate level of communication with clients and internal team members to better understand and mitigate any issues the customers may face.
Although industry experience is desirable, it is not essential as our client values self-starters, enthusiasm and a "can do" attitude.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
1. Achieve and exceed targets by managing a portfolio of accounts and ensuring customer satisfaction.
2. Generate and establish new business either by geographical region, market sector or product portfolio.
3. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing exceptional customer service.
4. Collaborate with other teams to achieve targets and develop strategies.
5. Understand customer needs and develop solutions to their requirements.
6. Achieve the product targets set for each allocated customer.
7. Control stock levels of customer special items, within the limits agreed.
8. Respond to all customer enquiries in a professional manner and within the timescale agreed.
9. Administer all customer orders efficiently and accurately.
10. Maintain and record accurate and easily accessible information for all allocated customers.

1. Proactively seeks out opportunities.
2. Adopts different sales strategies to achieve targets.
3. Able to build strong relationships.
4. Communicates information clearly and listens actively.
5. Has knowledge of all standard products.
6. Keeps up to date with the latest business trends.
7. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
8. Understands the required systems and works within the business procedures.
9. Is able to quickly and accurately convert and translate figures, presenting these in a way which can be understood by the audience.
