About the Role
The Facilities and Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for the upkeep, security, and general maintenance of the school’s buildings and grounds, ensuring a clean, safe, and functional environment for students and staff.
Responsibilities of the post:
* Building Security and Operations: Open and close school premises, conduct security checks, and ensure all access points are secured.
* Routine Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and minor repairs, including plumbing, furniture maintenance, and redecoration.
* Cleaning Supervision: Oversee cleaning staff, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facilities.
* Waste Management: Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling, maintaining a tidy external environment.
* Energy and Utilities Management: Monitor energy usage, report meter readings, and implement energy-saving initiatives.
* Emergency Response: Respond to and manage urgent maintenance issues such as leaks, electrical failures, and damages.
* Grounds Maintenance: Maintain outdoor areas, including grass cutting, litter collection, and clearing pathways of leaves, snow, and ice.
* Inventory and Supplies: Manage stock of maintenance supplies, tools, and hygiene materials.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Strong practical skills in maintenance, DIY, and general repairs.
* Experience in facilities management, preferably in an educational setting.
* Basic understanding of plumbing and carpentry work.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
* Physical ability to handle manual tasks and lifting.
General Duties:
* Commitment to ensuring a safe and high-quality environment for students and staff.
* Willingness to travel between multiple school sites if required.
* Flexibility to work outside standard hours when necessary.
* Support and contribute to the development of ES policies and procedures.
* Provide timely responses to emails or requests for information from the wider team and SLT.
* Manage your online calendar and ensure important deadlines are met, seeking support where required.
* Commitment to your own continuous professional development (CPD).
* Attend company training days, team building, INSET Days, and meetings as required.
* Attend ES Team Awards ceremony held annually each December.
* Access 1:1 coaching and support from your line manager.
