WHAT TO EXPECT
Joining the Legal and Compliance function at JLR means becoming a critical part of the teams which enables us to create exceptional vehicles. We are a busy legal team who collaborate across the whole organisation on a wide variety of commercial, compliance and regulatory matters.
The role will provide an enthusiastic senior Solicitor, with strong commercial and consumer law experience, with a real opportunity to work with a cross-functional team to shape the future of JLR, as the Head of Legal, primarily supporting our UK Marketing and Sales team.
The role will involve taking the lead in making decisions about legal and compliance risks which affect the business, and it is expected that the right candidate will become a trusted and influential adviser to the JLR business, including at board director level, and able to provide robust, quick and commercial legal advice.
As a leader within the business, the successful candidate will be a role model of the Creators’ Code and demonstrate their ability to lead others to deliver best in class legal support.
THE ROLE
Key Responsibilities
1. Advising, drafting and negotiating on a variety of commercial and consumer law matters, many of which will be of high value and complexity
2. Devising and delivering legal training for business partners and lawyers
3. Managing a high and varied workload
4. Agile and flexible understanding that no two days are ever the same
5. Lateral thinking, analysing and challenging business decisions & influencing stakeholders
6. Cross-functional collaboration, building a strong network of cross-functional stakeholders
7. A key team player, being flexible to undertake any other work as required by the team in connection with their job and as may be requested from their manager from time to time

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. Qualified senior Solicitor who is registered to practice within England and Wales, with strong proven experience as a commercial and consumer law specialist
2. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to process information & present the output in a way which is easily understandable by non-lawyers at all levels of the business
3. Good commercial acumen, with the ability to identify legal and commercial risks and provide solution driven advice
4. Ability to influence at all levels of the organisation and drive key decision making within the Commercial organisation
5. Experience working collaboratively with other colleagues outside of legal functions
6. Experience of working on consumer goods matters
7. Ability to provide legal advice in a commercial context, considering risks of the business
8. Strong experience in devising and implementing legal training, as required
9. Ability to identify key legal and commercial risks and be confident and experienced to make decisions which have significant and critical impact to the JLR business
10. Experience in an in-house role
11. Experience in the automotive and/or consumer goods sectors
