The team supports children with complex health needs in their own homes and schools. We are looking for confident innovative HCA's to join our Children's Complex Care team working across Birmingham. You will participate in the provision of basic nursing care and specialist care for children who have a range of complex disabilities due to chronic disease, congenital abnormalities, trauma, or who are terminally ill and at the end of their life. The post holder will work as part of the nursing team and supporting the other members of the multi-disciplinary Team. The post holder may be required to work within the service user's home / a hospital / hospice / school, or day centre environment depending upon their individual needs at that time Main duties of the job The role involves delivering care to children in a variety of settings, including home and school. The successful candidate will be trained in a variety of clinical skills such as gastrostomy feeding, suction, oxygen therapy using a competency based framework. You will received continued support in the role. You will need a good level of basic education including computer skills and at least NVQ level 3 in a child or young adult related subject or equivalent level of experience related subject. Experience working with children who are ventilated or have complex health problems would be beneficial but not essential. It is also important the successful candidate is innovative in providing play and learning opportunities for the children. You will need to be flexible in the community setting and a good team player and be able to develop collaborative working relationships with other healthcare professionals, services and agencies.
