Job Title: Corrugated Box Machine Operator
Pay:
* Starting at $18 per hour (based on experience)
Shift & Schedule:
* First Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
* Second Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Job Description:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Corrugated Box Machine Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in running corrugated box manufacturing machinery, including Flexo-Folder-Gluers, Rotary Die-Cutters, or Finishing Machines. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of machinery, ensuring production quality, and maintaining performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate corrugated box manufacturing machines such as Flexo-Folder-Gluers, Rotary Die-Cutters, and Finishing Machines.
* Assist in developing weekly production schedules with the Planning Department to meet order demands.
* Inspect and verify the quality of boxes through checklists and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
* Work closely with the Finishing Manager, Planning, and Purchasing to ensure smooth flow of raw materials to meet demand.
* Perform preventative maintenance and document maintenance activities.
* Ensure adherence to all 5S organization policies, keeping tools and workspaces properly maintained.
* Track key production metrics such as waste, Cartons Per Crewed Hour, and ensure production goals are met.
* Manage the proper labeling, palletizing, and documentation of all products for traceability.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
* Perform other job duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
* Visual inspection of dyes and plates before installation.
* Troubleshoot production and quality issues with corrective action.
* Ability to work different shifts (First, Second, or potentially Third).
* Perform basic equipment maintenance and daily clean-up.
* Ensure compliance with safety and operational regulations.
* Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
* Ability to interpret CAD drawings and factory specifications.
* Proficient in industrial math (arithmetic, algebra, and geometry).
* Familiarity with basic computer functions and database management.
* Knowledge of corrugated box types and production processes.
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
* Previous experience in the corrugated box industry is highly preferred.
* Experience with the following machines is a plus:
o Flexo-Folder-Gluers (International Post, Emba)
o Rotary Die-Cutters (Ward Kolbus, Koppers, Mckinley, HyCorr)
o Finishing Machines (Post Folder/Gluer, Emba S/A Tapers Gluers)
* Basic knowledge of quality control and product inspection.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to read and interpret safety manuals, operating instructions, and procedure documents.
* Strong mathematical abilities, including the ability to read measurement tools and perform unit conversions.
* Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and push/pull 100-250 lbs.
* Ability to meet or exceed the minimum requirements on mechanical aptitude tests or demonstrate relevant prior work experience.
* Must pass a ruler test.
* Must be willing to work overtime when required, especially during peak periods.
