Role Summary
The Specialist Sexual Health Nurse will deliver level-one sexual health services as outlined by the Department of Health in the National Strategy for Sexual Health, providing advanced level 2/3 services including screening, diagnosing, and treating sexually transmitted infections, and managing contraceptive methods.
This role involves educating patients, initiating referrals for partner notification, and offering broader sexual health support. The successful applicant will contribute to pathway and systems development, work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and mentor nursing and medical students.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver level-one sexual health services according to the Department of Health's guidelines.
2. Provide advanced level 2/3 services, including screening, diagnosing, and treating sexually transmitted infections, and managing contraceptive methods.
3. Educate patients on sexual health and well-being.
4. Initiate referrals for partner notification.
5. Contribute to pathway and systems development.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
1. Registered Nurse Level 1.
2. ENB 276 or equivalent (Contraception course).
3. ENB 901/R71 or equivalent (Sexually transmitted infections course).
4. Possession of a Diploma or degree in Nursing or working towards it.
5. ENB 998/C&G 730 or other recognised teaching qualification.
6. Recognized Mentorship training and possession of a mentorship passport.
7. Cervical smear course (or willingness to undertake).
