Role: Operations Apprentice (Process and Pumping).

Location: The roles will be on the East coast of Yorkshire region, covering Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington and Filey. Please note the site you will be based at, will be decided by your home location. A full UK driving license (with no more than 6 points) is an essential requirement of this role, with the ability to travel between sites.

With no two days the same, our Process and Pumping Operators ensure that our hundreds of above ground assets (our treatment works and pumping stations) across Yorkshire are working as they should, by working on both proactive and reactive jobs. Our Operations Apprentices will work with teams across Yorkshire to learn about this vital role within our business and will join one of our Process and Pumping teams upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
You may be working at the coast, in the Dales, or anywhere within this beautiful county, but wherever you are you will be working with friendly colleagues in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Where you fit in:
As our Operations Apprentice you will:
1. Learn about the full wastewater process, from collection, to treatment processes, to returning to watercourse.
2. Learn how to operate treatment works.
3. Learn how to operate pumping stations.
4. Understand other parts of the business, and how we are better together.
5. Be able to understand and respond to alarms from treatment works and pumping stations.
6. Understand and be able to work with numerous corporate systems.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
7. To hold 5 GCSE’s grade C and above or grades 4-9 including English, mathematics and a Science subject. (These requirements are to satisfy our training provider)
8. Hold a full valid driving licence (with no more than six points) and your own transport for the duration of the apprenticeship to reach sites across the Yorkshire region.
9. A willingness to commute across Yorkshire.
10. The ability to carry out a wide range of physical tasks mainly outdoors.
11. Be self-motivated, always willing to learn new skills and take pride in everything you do.
12. This role has a requirement to carry out occasional work in confined spaces so the successful completion of a medical performed by our Occupational Health Department and the relevant training course is essential. The successful candidate must pass strict medical criteria including, BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, and Spirometry tests to ensure your full safety when working in hazardous environments.
