Job Description
Meldrum Academy is one of 17 secondary schools within Aberdeenshire and is situated within the village of Oldmeldrum. The school serves the Mid Formartine area of Aberdeenshire with 12 feeder primary schools.
Meldrum Academy, an inspiring place to be, encourages all our young people to develop the skills, abilities, and attitudes to face future challenges. Our pupils benefit from high-quality teaching, excellent accommodation, first-class resources, and a wide range of opportunities within and beyond the classroom. Meldrum Academy aims to combine the finest traditions of Scottish education with the very best practices in teaching and learning.
At Meldrum Academy, we work together - staff, pupils, parents, business partners, and partner agencies - to meet the needs of each individual pupil, allowing them to develop a breadth of skills and talents. With an excellent level of pastoral care and pupil support, we instill the resilience necessary for our pupils to emerge confident and responsible, ready for the wider world.
Meldrum Academy welcomes expressions of interest for the important middle leader position of Faculty Head of Mathematics and Numeracy. We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking, solution-focused professional to lead our well-established Maths Faculty in pursuit of Meldrum Academy's vision: Working Together for Success.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated teaching staff delivering courses designed to meet the needs of a broad range of learners. Upon completion of the BGE phase, our young people can study Numeracy levels 1 to 5, National levels 1-5 Mathematics and National 4/5 Applications Maths, Higher Mathematics, Applications Maths, Advanced Higher Mathematics, and Mechanics of Maths.
Faculty staff work towards developing the skills and knowledge that students will need in further education, the workplace, and day-to-day life. Although the Faculty enjoys high levels of attainment, we focus on continuous improvement and are receptive to new ideas to enhance excellence.
The Faculty collaborates with other secondary schools in Aberdeenshire as part of the Aberdeenshire professional support groups (PSG) and maintains positive links with our feeder Primary schools. Additionally, we have established close links with business and academic partners, enhancing the learning experience and providing up-to-date information on labor market pathways and trends.
