About the job Job summary The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. The job holder will supervise the station fuels, lubricants, and associated products section, ensuring the safe and efficient use of the facility, whilst adhering to all current rules, regulations and legislation and maintaining adequate fuel stock levels to meet operational and non-operational demands. The job holder is required to obtain a competency certificate and will be the Pollution Control Officer for the facility. Job description Roles and Responsibilities: Line Manage two Storekeepers Act as the focal point for the team, assigning tasks to be done by individual members and/or passing on instructions from the Line Manager. Ensure all products are stored and issued in accordance with MOD and Health and Safety policy. Remain fully conversant with the implementation and accounting procedures in accordance with current Regulations. Responsible for maintaining fuel stocks to enable business to meet primary and secondary tasks. Ensure the quality assurance checks are carried out before and during receipting of aviation fuel. Authorise and monitor the ordering of aviation and ground fuels, Furnace Fuels Oils, heating oil and other associated products as required. Ensure invoices are raised to external customers for aviation fuel. Responsible for collection and disposal of all waste fuel products and hazardous waste on station. Supervise the MOD management information systems ensuring they are updated daily. Ensure fuel infrastructure is ready for periodic inspections including annual risk and COSHH assessments. Act as the building custodian for relevant buildings/installations. Report property management faults and work services as soon as they become apparent. Person specification The Bulk Fuel Installation is operated by a small team of four staff, responsible for the safe maintenance and distribution of aviation fuel. This role suits someone IT literate, comfortable with numbers and working in a demanding outdoor environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong Information Technology skills, particularly in Microsoft Office 365, and be comfortable working with numbers. This position is best suited for a motivated and resilient individual who is willing to work in challenging outdoor environments. High interpersonal skills are essential, the candidate will need to quickly build effective working relationships with a range of individuals from various backgrounds particularly as the role includes line management responsibilities, it is crucial for the candidate to exhibit strong communication and organisational skills to ensure that tasks are completed to a high standard. A proactive mindset, along with the ability to prioritise tasks with minimal supervision, is vital for success in this role.
