We are currently recruiting for a Contracts Engineer to join our client’s Engineering Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering projects and small works associated with engineering services including: –
1. Engineering analysis and studies.
2. Construction engineering design.
3. Business development
4. Procurement.
5. Cost control
6. Estimate projects.
7. Price variations.
8. Forecasting end of life contract costs and sales values.
9. Ensuring order numbers and SES numbers are in place.
10. Preparation of invoices and applications to meet the business and contractual obligations.
11. Site management including:- setup, installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
Aims and Objectives:
12. To ensure that projects and small works are carried out safely.
13. To develop effective working relationships with fellow team members and clients, to maximise the opportunities to secure and win new work.
14. To work with Clients to produce a relationship that results in repeat business.
15. To provide technical engineering expertise and advice to fellow members of the team and clients, as and when necessary, to support the successful execution of the work.
16. To ensure Project Engineering services are delivered to plan, to programme and within budget.
17. To ensure Project Engineering and technical standards are maintained throughout the work, meeting specification requirements and in accordance with Quality Management Systems and Control
18. To provide management reports as required and to agreed schedules.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
19. To manage and control site-based teams to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
20. To ensure understanding of the contract conditions and engineering standards and specifications that apply to each assigned project & area of work and ensure that all considerations are accounted for in the execution of work.
21. To produce or review risk assessments and method statements to comply with Health and Safety requirements/ legislation.
22. To sequence and programme works, establishing work scope, specifications, programmes, and cost control including sub-contracted works.
23. To compare suppliers and subcontractors’ quality and costs against procurement schedules and assists in identifying their suitability for the work and provision of services.
24. To prepare work programmes, ensuring activities are planned in line with available resources, understanding the interfaces and coordination with other disciplines and contractors.
25. To establish the procurement schedules and specifications for engaging suppliers and subcontractors.
26. Procure, co-ordinate and monitor all site activities.
27. To undertake site and works visits as required, attend engineering/ project/ client progress meetings to provide the necessary input to support the successful execution of the work.
28. To provide tendering facilities for project works and variations to suit the business and client requirements.
29. To work closely with the commercial team to manage variations and changes to the scope of work, with emphasis on receiving payment for all additional activities.
30. To ensure understanding of the financial plans/ set budgets and the methods for monitoring cost, spend, value and recovery for all works, including variations, as executed.
31. To understand the controls for managing risk throughout all stages of the work, risk analysis, risk scheduling, risk controls and monitoring.
32. To manage and set firm financial targets to meet established objectives, which will include the reporting of financial status to the General, Commercial and Operations Managers.
33. Other duties as required by Head of Operations and Commercial Manager.
34. To develop customer relationships and provide excellent customer service to gain new opportunities through existing and new customers i.e., additional core contracts, extra works, total facilities opportunities.
