Job Description Post: House Manager Hours: Full-time – Tuesdays to Saturdays - 37.5 hours a week Accountable to: Deputy Director Responsible for: House Coordinators Salary: £29,850 per annum Summary The House Manager is a key public-facing member of the MK Gallery team, responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the visitor experience to the Gallery and that everyone receives a friendly and professional welcome. They are also responsible for the day-to-day duty management and security of the Gallery, ensures visitor safety - implementing our health, safety and emergency evacuation procedures. Main Duties and Responsibilities Front of House With the support of the House Coordinators and the Volunteer Team ensure that the public areas of MK Gallery’s premises are ready for public opening, (i.e. are welcoming, clean and secure for staff and visitors, and that current MK Gallery information is available). Undertake leadership and management for the House Co-ordinators and Retail Assistants, responsible for their inductions, development and training, supervision, line management and work rotas. To act as a key-holder (in and out of hours) for the Gallery and related spaces as required. Support the Director to develop visitor service strategies. Ensure the submission of team time sheets in a timely manner to the Finance manager. Health and Safety Responsible for the management of all front of house areas, monitoring the condition of the furniture and sittings and scheduling cleaning as building usage requires. Maintain up to date first aid qualifications In collaboration with the Facilities Manager ensure that front of house areas and facilities are monitored to a high standard while open to the public, that records of any incidents are kept, and that incidents are acted upon as necessary. In collaboration with the Facilities Manager ensure that suitable and regular risk assessments are undertaken for the front of house teams, that the resultant recommendations are implemented, and adequate information and training is provided for staff, and volunteers. To act as first aider and fire warden when on site. Events Management and Cinema operation To set up audio-visual and IT equipment for events. Work with external technical crews to support their set up. To manage, in liaison with the Front of House Coordinator, Events Co-ordinator, and other staff as appropriate, the preparations of Gallery events, to assist with welcoming of guests, to clear up at the end of events and lock the building as required. Schedule Cinema programmes, import content and create weekly playlist. Pre-Test Cinema and Live Stream. General To undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required by the organisation. Work flexibly as required, which will occasionally involve weekend and evening events (and hours above the core hours of the post. Technical proficiency in setting up audio-visual and IT equipment. Demonstrates flexibility in work hours, including weekends and evenings as needed. Desirable Up-to-date first aid qualifications and commitment to maintaining these certifications. IPAF certified. Experience in incident management and record-keeping. Experience barcode projectors.
