Detailed description
The summary of this role is to cover the tea room for the Mill which provides refreshments (cakes and drinks) to visitors.
All proceeds go to partnered charities which are Cancer Research UK, S.U.R.E, Macmillan Cancer Support, and Open Door.
Bishops Lydeard Mill has been painstakingly restored by the Back family over many years. The mill and attached mill house have a Grade 2 listing as a place of historical interest.
The project preserves a small piece of history in the picturesque village of Bishops Lydeard while shaping a better future for many less fortunate people.
Some of the best features of the mill are our working water wheel, the tea room, the stream that goes through the mill, the beautiful gardens, interpretation centre, many interactive displays, and our Gift Shop.
The mill is open from 10.30am until 4.00pm from the 4th of June until the 29th of September and is closed on Mondays and Saturdays, except for bank holiday Mondays and Saturdays in August.
As a Volunteer for the tea room, you will be needed from 10am until 4.15pm. The days you volunteer are extremely flexible; you can volunteer as much or as little as you would like within the season.
