Electrical Engineering Technician

The overall purpose of this role is to provide both reactive and proactive maintenance services on all operational assets and site facilities. Fault finding, repairs, and site upgrades and improvements will also be part of the role. The role will be mainly electrical bias but will have elements of mechanical work.
Work will be generated and managed using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The engineering technician will have an element of responsibility for managing this system where records and tasks are to be updated and signed off accordingly.
Principal Responsibilities
* Electrical work – minor maintenance, repairs, inspections & installations.
* Reviewing site electrical drawings and ensuring drawings are up to date.
* Carry out Isolations for all electrical assets on the Terminal as and when required for Operational/Maintenance work.
* Fault finding on all electrical assets on the Terminal. Support Mechanical fault finding when possible.
* To ensure that documented records of engineering and maintenance activities are maintained.
* Mechanical work – minor maintenance, repairs inspections & installations.
* Management of electrical works within CMMS, manage in-house tasks as well as larger contracted works.
* Management of annual electrical inspections, including producing scopes of work, bid analysis and organisation & planning of works on site.
* Assist in managing and developing electrical based projects & site upgrades when required. Support the Engineering Manager with any Electrical based Projects.
* Support the Engineering manager with any electrical aspects of Management of Change.
* As required, assist with any EC&I HSE intervention plan.
* To communicate effectively with all personnel to ensure that all engineering activities allow safe, efficient and effective operation of all aspects of the terminals’ activities.
* Manage electrical contractors on site and ensure work is carried out to applicable standards and in line with Policies and Procedures.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
* Fully qualified as an Electrical Engineering / Electrician holding suitable Electrical qualifications or a time served apprenticeship.
* At least 2 years’ industrial experience, preferably Oil & Gas (downstream) / Process experience.
* Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
* CompEX Electrical qualified (Ex01-04).
* 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (minimum).
* Professional membership of an accredited Management Institute or recognised body.
* Understanding of Process Safety.
Personal skills/attributes required:
* Self-motivated and proactive.
* Effective verbal and written communication and influencing skills.
* Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes including Excel.
* Attention to detail.
* Excellent report writing skills and document management experience.
