An exciting opportunity has arisen in Bristol to work as part of the BNSSG Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) Service which will operate at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI).
We are looking for an organised and diligent person, who would like to make a difference to patient care, ensure that patients are treated in a timely manner and provide administrative support to an efficient TIA Service across BNSSG.
Are you someone with admin or customer service experience? Or are you currently an NHS employee looking for progression or a change in direction? This could be just the role you are looking for. We would welcome applications from candidates interested in part-time hours.
Additional working pattern details: Requirement to work some weekends as part of a rota (1 in 3). Required start time: 8.00am.
Main duties of the job
This role requires you to have responsibility for coordinating a comprehensive and efficient TIA clinic service. This will include booking patients into clinic, arranging tests as requested by the clinician, and data upload onto the Trust's Patient Administration System (PAS).
The successful candidate will possess the skills and key competencies to support the needs of the department, as stipulated in the person specification.
You will be required to have a professional and mature working attitude and have patient care as your primary concern.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Educated to GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
* Business and Admin level 3 NVQ or equivalent experience
Knowledge and Experience
* Clerical / administrative experience in a healthcare / public setting
* Experience of dealing with the public, both on the telephone and in person
* Previous NHS experience
* Experience of using a Patient Administration System
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to work effectively in a busy team, adjust to change and motivate others
* Good IT skills including Microsoft packages
* Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers
* Effective and polite manner when dealing with people, both face to face and on the phone
* Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy
* Effective organisational skills
* Ability to work independently, managing own workload, whilst providing supervision and support to others
* Working knowledge of outpatient policies and procedures
