The Bulk Master Driver is responsible for defining, implementing, and controlling all training activities within the bulk operation, ensuring the effectiveness of the organization's associated driver trainer resources by validating technical and coaching competencies. The role will be the lead technical authority on bulk delivery processes and associated equipment operational practices. The Bulk Master Driver will ensure safety standards and company policies and procedures are upheld throughout the operation within this specialist field and provide guidance and support to internal Air Liquide operations and third-party logistics providers.
* Support the operations team and logistics partners throughout the driver interview process and onboarding.
* Ensure training materials and technical information are developed and controlled in line with AL group standards.
* Schedule, track, and perform formal on-the-job observations and assessments as well as BVS’s to monitor performance.
* Provide oversight of logistics partner performance in terms of driver training and safety communications.
* Contribute to and drive safety improvements linked to bulk logistics functions.
* Oversee and develop the driver qualification process, particularly coaching drivers through on-the-job assessments and using data retrieved from vehicle onboard technology (IVMS, tachograph, fatigue, and distraction systems) to quantify, analyze, and monitor performance.
* Provide regular feedback via multiple streams to key stakeholders in the operation.
* Provide technical support to our third-party logistics providers in relation to cryogenic transfer processes.
* Define, document, and communicate critical process improvements as defined through continuous improvement processes.
* Develop, implement, and control safety plans linked to organizational objectives.
* Contribute to, lead, and validate formal investigations linked to undesired safety events to determine improvements and corrective actions.
* Assist with assessing customer delivery points to identify issues and risks, and work with relevant teams to implement solutions.
* Provide support to all areas of the operation as required.
Are you a MATCH?
* Previous demonstrated experience as a professional driver within a technical capacity in the cryogenics industry.
* Previous demonstrated experience within a formal training and coaching role.
* Ability to demonstrate exceptional operational discipline.
* Able to demonstrate excellent safety performance and compliance with regulations.
* Clean driving license free from RSE, fines, etc., for the past three years.
* Ability to gain the respect of drivers and Road Transport stakeholders.
* Ability to develop training plans as part of C-IPM for driver teams.
* Competency in the development of risk assessments and SOPs.
* Experience in incident investigations and root cause analysis techniques.
* General communication and group presentation skills.
* Recognize and appreciate individual abilities and adjust their approach accordingly.
* Empower driver teams through positive feedback and coaching.
* Proven motivator and leader.
* Eagerness to learn quickly and share knowledge/know-how with enthusiasm.
