The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn are looking for an enthusiastic individual with proven experience, to take on an exciting job opportunity within the Ultrasound team as a Sonographer.
This is an ideal opportunity to consolidate any existing skills, as well as the potential to learn new skills with help and support of trained Sonographers and Radiologists.
You will be responsible for independently undertaking examinations in obstetrics & gynaecology, including transvaginal, general abdominal, vascular, soft tissue, musculo-skeletal, neck and paediatric hips scanning: scope will be within sonographers existing qualifications, however, support would be given to obtain additional qualifications if required for service delivery. Main duties of the job
You will work as an independent practitioner without direct clinician input and will provide written and verbal, clinical/diagnostic reports, including suggestions for further patient management and are, therefore, directly accountable for their actions.
Scanning clinics will be in a variety of venues, including antenatal ultrasound, radiology department, diagnostic assessment centre (CDC), North Cambs Hospital site, wards, operating theatres and other off-site clinics as required. In addition, you will manage and deliver an effective ultrasound service to ensure a high standard of care for all patients under the post holder's care. Organise an effective and efficient service. This requires knowledge and experience to plan and prioritise patient workload; one's own section workload and training sessions. There is an expectation to manage a range of patients with differing demands including in-patients, geriatrics and paediatrics.

Qualifications/training and professional development Essential
* DCR/Degree, DMU or PGD/PGC/MSc in Medical Ultrasound
* BSc in Radiography/Midwifery/Physiotherapy
* CASE accredited Ultrasound course or at least 1 year experience in Ultrasound in the UK
* HCPC Registration
Skills, abilities and knowledge Essential
* Ability to independently perform, interpret and report ultrasound examinations in line with departmental guidelines
* Autonomously produce written reports of examinations
* Ability to assess and refer patients if further examinations/interventions are required
* Ability to take line management responsibility in the Ultrasound Department in the absence of the Lead Ultrasound Sonographer
