Employment Legal Counsel EMEA Location: Hybrid, Manchester, UK Office Employment Type: Full-Time Summary OneStream seeks an experienced Legal Counsel specializing in Employment Law to join its team. The role involves a primary focus on managing employment matters across the EMEA and APAC regions. The Legal Counsel will provide guidance on a variety of employment-related issues, including the drafting and negotiation of offer letters, termination agreements, judicial and administrative agency documents, as well as the development and review of company policies and handbooks tailored to multiple jurisdictions within EMEA and APAC. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The position requires advising internal stakeholders on global employment concerns, such as recruitment, hiring, wage and hour compliance, performance management, workplace investigations, leave and accommodation requests, and employee terminations. The Legal Counsel will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Human Resources, Finance, and Senior Leadership, to ensure compliance with employment practices and regulations within the designated regions. Additionally, the role involves managing and coordinating with external counsel regularly. Advise on all global employment law matters (with a strong emphasis on EMEA & APAC jurisdictions) including, but not limited to recruiting and hiring practices, wage and hour and pay equity issues, performance management, employee discipline, internal investigations, leave and accommodation requests, disability related issues, employee terminations, discrimination and harassment complaints, interpreting and applying employment policies and statutory regulations, and negotiating and preparing employment-related agreements. Work closely with outside legal counsel to manage employment related claims in all stages including investigation, pre-litigation, judicial, and administrative proceedings. Play a key role in our international expansion, including by leading and managing employment related matters in EMEA & APAC. Review and negotiate benefits plans in EMEA & APAC. Draft and review employment policies and employee handbooks. Develop and provide training programs in all areas of employment law. Draft, review, and negotiate some commercial or transactional agreements. Conduct legal research and provide legislative and regulatory updates regarding multiple jurisdictions in EMEA & APAC. Provide support to the People Operations team and other business stakeholders by providing practical legal and business advice on various employment related matters and initiatives. Handle additional projects as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB or BA), Graduate Diploma in Law, or other comparable qualification in the UK, Netherlands or France. Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with 3 years of in-house or law firm experience. Detail-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Flexibility and ability to manage a schedule with competing priorities, including off hours’ requests. Ability to work under time pressure independently, as well as part of a team. Experience advising both internal and external clients across all organizational levels. Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and document management systems. Proficiency with legal research software, such as Westlaw. Preferred Education and Experience Experience working for a global company. Experience as in-house counsel. Experience working internationally and in a fast-paced environment. Experience handling employment matters in multiple jurisdictions within EMEA & APAC, with a specific focus on UK, Netherlands and/or France. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Foundational legal knowledge, with a focus on labor & employment law. Time management, especially across multiple time zones. High degree of independence, initiative, and judgement. Ability to deliver results, both as an individual contributor and as a member of the global legal team. Capacity to lead projects and coordinate with external advisors. Demonstrated ability to quickly digest complex information and make informed decisions. Must be self-motivated with high energy. Strong analytical, attention-to-detail, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the drafting of agreements and giving advice in plain English. Excellent interpersonal skills. Comfortable in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Project management. Ability to handle all matters with a high degree of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion. Travel Overall, minimal travel is expected for this position. However, there may be occasions where a legal representative is required to attend court or administrative proceedings in EMEA & APAC. This position may be responsible for attending court or administrative proceedings in EMEA & APAC as assigned.
