Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.
We are seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant in Oral Medicine and Behcet’s to join the Royal London Hospital on a 12-month fixed term contract. This job presents an attractive and varied combination of Oral Medicine and Behcet’s at a large teaching hospital. This is a full-time position (10 PAs).
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have experience in general Oral Medicine and the management of Behcet’s disease. The post holder will be working in a multi-disciplinary team including nurses, medical and dental consultants and resident doctors to support the delivery of the service.

Qualifications and Registration
* Eligible for full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC)
* Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
* Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Oral Medicine or equivalent.
* Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Oral Medicine
* Name on Specialist Register on date of taking up appointment
* Fellowship in Dental Surgery or Member of the faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent
* Current holder of an NHS or Honorary Consultant contract in Oral Medicine
Training and Experience
* Successful completion of an SAC-approved 3 year minimum training programme in Oral Medicine. Or within 6 months of completion, or equivalent
Management and Leadership
* Experience in day to day organisation of Oral Medicine services in a busy Teaching Hospital
* Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
* Familiar with current structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes
* Management course and/or qualification
Audit and Research
* Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit. Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.
* Ability to appraise scientific literature critically
* Publications in refereed journals
* Research relevant to Oral Medicine or Behcet’s
Personal Skills and Attributes
* Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and co-operate with all medical and paramedical staff
* Flexible, able to cover colleagues’ absence
* Professional attitude towards work
* Reliability, good record of attendance and tidy personal appearance and maintenance of Local Uniform Code
