Key Purpose You will join the Mechanical Design Office team within the Airborne Systems Group (ASG) and will fulfil the role of Senior Mechanical Design Engineer. You will provide input into all phases of the design process. The Design activities may include, design specification preparation, survey work, model creation and production of drawings to support manufacturing and installation and providing inputs to design reviews. The designs produced must be of a standard that can be manufactured, installed, and, where necessary, certified. Role & Responsibilities Using CATIA v5, you will produce 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings for aircraft structural elements, mechanisms, mechanical systems and equipment installations. Compilation of Engineering Reports and Presentations using MS Office Software Identify engineering challenges, coordinate and implement effective and safe mechanical designs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure all Mechanical Designs comply with the project requirements, regulations, and best design practices. You will ensure that all assigned tasks are delivered to meet time and budget requirements. You may be asked to lead and coordinate a small team of Mechanical Design Engineers to design and develop mechanical components using CATIA v5, including mentoring of junior employees. Key Requirements Strong Experience using CATIA v5, 3D modelling and production of 2D engineering drawings. Ability to utilise CATIA v5 to produce part and assembly designs along with associated manufacturing drawings for aircraft structural elements, mechanisms, mechanical systems and equipment installations to meet specified requirements and constraints. Working knowledge/understanding of application of Geometric Dimension & Tolerance Techniques (BS8888) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to interact effectively with the ASG teams, with customers and suppliers. Creative problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to overcoming engineering challenges. Good customer interface and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively and engage with people at all levels both within and outside the business. Commitment to quality, accuracy, and attention to detail in all aspects of work. Use of MS Office suite of products and PLM.
