The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Charge Nurse within the Surgical Assessment Unit based at University Hospital Hairmyres.
As a Senior Charge Nurse, you will provide clinical leadership and expert advice to all nursing staff in the delivery of care within your area of responsibility, including recruitment, supervision, development, and deployment of unit staff. You will have continual 24-hour responsibility for the management of the ward/department.
The Senior Charge Nurse will undertake regular rotational cover of the Directorate or Hospital to provide leadership, address clinical issues, manage immediate management issues, and deploy staff as appropriate. You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of care programmes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients.

What we'll need you to bring
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
* Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
* Post graduate expertise within your speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge to lead safely, effectively, and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice.
* Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development.
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in your area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification.
* Excellent team-working/leadership skills and the ability to motivate others and work using your initiative.
* Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time management skills.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology.
