Job overview
Responsible for the effective line management and leadership of the Children’s, Young People Acute and Community Services Group, ensuring structures and systems are in place to coordinate the activities of the various health care professionals.
To provide management support to the DCOO, Head of Nursing, and Clinical Directors and, with them, develop, implement and monitor finance and activity arrangements and business plans for the Children’s, Young People Acute and Community Services Group. To facilitate staff and team development and ensure effective communication systems operate within the Group and other specialities, across the Divisions and Trust.
Group Managers are expected to work for the clinical and business success of their Group Specialties, and to contribute to the corporate success of the Trust. This will include the implementation and development of corporate policies and long-term strategic plans and initiating changes in line with Trust Management Team decisions to local and regional services.
To be responsible for developing, influencing and implementing policies within the Children’s, Young People Acute and Community Services Group, and across the organisation.
Main duties of the job
1. Work in conjunction with Trust and other agencies in developing strategies for meeting local Health Improvement Programmes and The Local Delivery Plan.
2. Develop a multidisciplinary team approach to patient interventions and participate in the development of clinical pathways.
3. Be responsible for service redesign to improve patient care in line with strategic policies, Research, audit and write business cases to support proposals for service redesign.
4. Develop and implement the Children’s, Young People Services Health Care Plan and, in conjunction with Clinical Directorates, agree the level of support required to deliver service delivery plans across the Trust.
5. In conjunction with Children’s, Young People Services Professional leads in the Trust develop strategic direction and operational plans to establish and deliver services across the health care boundaries, in line with local and national priorities.
6. Support the Clinical Director, Clinical Leads, Matrons, and Practice Directors in the development of their role and involvement in the management process.
7. Develop a business plan for the Group Specialties and identify opportunities for new markets and schemes to generate additional income.
8. Work with the Group Finance Team to provide appropriate financial and activity information to the Clinical Directors/Divisional Managers, and ensure the financial balance of the Group Specialities and service.
9. Ensure that quality standards, both those agreed with the commissioners and dictated by national policy, are achieved.
10. Manage non-medical and non-nursing staff within the Group Specialities complying with Trust personnel policies and procedures.
11. Develop strategic plans for the Children’s, Young People Services Group so that the Trust is compliant with national and local standards.
12. Overall pay and non-pay budget management responsibilities, agreeing service contracts with external providers for the provision of clinical services.
13. Ensure effective working relationships and links with managerial colleagues in other relevant organisations/localities, both internally and externally to the Trust/locality.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Master’s degree or equivalent learning in a professional or numerate discipline.
* Senior Management Experience.
* Experience of Budgetary and Finance.
* Knowledge of the national and regional health strategies.
