What's involved with this role: Role: Accountant Job Ref: QAD 2247/2011 Pay Rate: Competitive Market Rate Hours per week: 37 hours per week Contract Length: Anticipated 6 months Location: Newcastle, hybrid working We are seeking a qualified Accountant to join a team in supporting Business as Usual (BAU) operations during the implementation of a new Finance System transformation project. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the BAU Finance team can devote sufficient time and focus to the transformation initiative without compromising the organisation’s daily financial operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining seamless financial processes and meeting the organisation’s ongoing needs during this transitional period. You will be CCAB qualified and have significant experience in finance within a large and/or complex organisation. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate and solve complex problems are essential. Exceptional communication and analytical abilities, coupled with a “can-do” attitude, will be crucial for tackling a variety of tasks as they arise. The role also demands the ability to maintain effective, collaborative relationships across the organisation, ensuring alignment and cooperation during this critical phase of transformation. Key accountabilities: Assist in managing the accounts payable and receivable functions. Support the organisation’s budgeting, forecasting, planning, and cash management processes, collaborating cross-functionally to engage stakeholders effectively. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting information for inclusion in annual accounts and quarterly consolidation returns. Coordinate and organise the preparation of the Annual Report and Financial Statement elements for statutory year-end reporting to be presented in Parliament. Review in-year forecasts through monthly challenge sessions, providing detailed analysis and actionable insights. Contribute to key fiscal events, such as Spending Reviews, by ensuring business cases are built on robust financial models and well-grounded assumptions, including resource planning for delivery objectives. Manage grant-in-aid processes, encompassing fund drawdowns, cash management, and reporting activities.
