Job Title: Air Sector Engineering Manager

Salary: £61,110
Across our entire portfolio, including GCAP, Falconworks electric air vehicles, un-crewed air vehicles, Tempest, Typhoon, and F-35, we have big plans to transform the way we engineer our products. With new and exciting tools entering the market, we need to continually keep ahead of the competition through improving our ways of working. You will be at the forefront of this as you play a key role in shaping the way our engineers work for decades to come. We are looking for experienced Engineering Managers with diverse experience in the industry to complement our highly skilled and growing engineering teams working on cutting-edge air defense projects.
As a direct entry Executive, you will have the opportunity to lead engineering teams involved in complex systems engineering projects through all stages in their lifecycle, from concept to delivery and throughout in-service product use. What you’ll be doing:
1. Lead and work as part of an established systems engineering team in a highly regulated environment.
2. Work on key platforms/projects, both new concepts and ongoing support to in-service products and services.
3. Collaborate with multiple functions (engineering, project management, human resources, etc.) and support our engineers through applying your engineering experience and knowledge.
4. Propose and develop engineering and business solutions to problems throughout our product development cycle.
5. Manage aspects of engineering, delivering them to high standards through ensuring good engineering practice and governance.
6. Understand and manage the maturity of our engineering solutions as they develop and take corrective action to ensure our products are the best they can be.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
1. Experience managing teams and teams of teams to deliver complex engineering solutions.
2. Experience in Systems Engineering activities involved in the development of complex systems across engineering lifecycles.
3. Excellent people management, leadership, communication, and IT skills.
Desirable:
1. Degree educated in a STEM subject or Chartered.
2. Experience of working with engineering tools and methods to engineering standards in a highly regulated industry.
3. Experience of Model Based Engineering approaches and the supporting methods and toolsets.
