You can find us across the UK and in the US (Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island) Your mission As a Senior Accounts Assistant, you will be a key member of the finance team, contributing to both financial reporting and operational finance activities. You will take ownership of preparing weekly and periodic reports, providing actionable insights that support data-driven decision-making across the organisation. You will oversee the activities of our outsourced finance team, ensuring timely and accurate processing of financial records and that we maintain strong communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders. An important part of this role will be driving process improvement and shaping the Finance function into a best-in-class operation as it continues to scale in the UK and US markets. Key Responsibilities This person will be involved in all areas of the finance function : Month-End Responsibilities: As a crucial member of the finance team, you will ensure that month-end tasks are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines. This includes key reconciliations, accurate journal entries and supporting the preparation of management accounts. Along with providing insightful commentary and commercial analysis on financial performance and working with internal stakeholders to ensure the figures are correct. Purchase Ledger: You will work closely with the outsourced team to ensure smooth running of the purchase ledger function. This would involve reviewing weekly payment runs, staff expenses and preparing ad-hoc payments. Your responsibilities include the review of supplier invoices, reconciliation of supplier statements, and resolution of any discrepancies. You will oversee the management of the accounts inbox by coordinating with the outsourced team to maintain effective communication with customers and suppliers, ensuring agreed payment terms are met and supplier queries are addressed promptly to support smooth financial operations. Weekly Reporting: Prepare and take ownership of the weekly flash reports on a timely basis to ensure that wider internal and external stakeholders are updated on financial performance across the group. Collaborate with the wider business to gather the necessary data for reporting and monitor variances in financial data. Weekly Cashflow Forecasts: You will prepare the weekly cashflow forecast, ensuring the company has a clear view of its liquidity needs and managing cashflow projections in line with business priorities. Process Improvement: You will work with the Finance Manager in identifying and implementing enhancements to finance processes and systems. This includes evaluating current workflows to identify inefficiencies or risks, designing and implementing streamlined solutions, and ensuring robust controls are in place. A key focus will be on leveraging technology and automation to optimise operations and improve accuracy. You will ensure all processes are clearly documented and support with transitioning manual repeatable processes to our outsourced team Payroll : You will take ownership of the payroll process and weekly driver billing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. This includes generating variance reports and managing any payroll-related queries in the mailbox. Project Work and Stakeholder Engagement: You will engage in various finance-related projects and collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and alignment with company goals Audit Assistance: You will assist with the preparation of audit evidence and ensure that the company remains compliant with statutory and internal financial controls. General Finance Support: You will support the finance team with ad-hoc tasks and projects as needed, including covering urgent Finance Manager queries when required.
