First Class Support provides academic support to students in receipt of disabled student allowance (DSA). Due to recent demand, we are looking to galvanise our team of highly qualified and experienced specialist support staff for the upcoming Academic Year.
Position: Notetaker
Notetakers will be recruited at entry level and must undertake our in-house L3 notetaking distant learning course. Once qualified, you will be able to support hearing and visually impaired students. This role is based in Swansea.
Responsibilities:
1. Support students who require notes to be taken on their behalf.
2. Produce an accurate and legible record of the content of lectures, seminars, discussions, off-campus events, etc. in the student’s preferred style and format.
3. Ensure notes contain pertinent information from the session, which may include diagrams and references to any hand-outs.
4. Hand over notes in the agreed format within a specified time frame.
5. Use your own equipment to take these notes.
Working Conditions:
You will be provided with flexible working patterns and access to a CPD Accredited Qualification.
Your Experience:
You will have experience writing notes at a further education/university level. It will be beneficial if you have prior experience working with students with specific learning difficulties or hearing/vision impairment. You will have quick and accurate typing skills.
Training:
You will be provided with Specialist Notetaker Training. You will need to complete this training ahead of working with students.
Note: The working hours vary according to the needs of the student and the academic timetable. Due to the nature of the role, our support workers are required to be registered or become registered Self Employed.
